Co-operative society assures members on prompt payment

UGHELLI—AGAINST the rumour making the rounds that Sungold Co-operative Society, an Ughelli based network marketing outfit, was on the verge of being shut down, the Director of Finance of the outfit, Mrs. Blessing Anyi, has assured members that payment of their bonuses would be paid as at when due.

Anyi, who spoke in a chat with newsmen at Ughelli, Delta State, at the weekend, said the non- payment of bonuses to members over the last few weeks had nothing to do with the financial status of the co-operative society.

She said the organization was undergoing auditing and computerization to enhance effective service delivery to members, attributing that to the delay in payment of bonuses.

Anyi said the co-operative society was paying members in other stations across the country.
She disclosed that the decision of the co-operative society to stop payment to its members was to ensure that it was fully computerized and its books audited as a result of the double payments that had been previously made to customers.

She maintained that the co-operative society was committed to the eradication of poverty and enjoined members to disregard rumours that the co-operative society was going out of business.
