Anambra lawmakers task PDP leadership on reconciliation

By Enyim Enyim

ONITSHA—For peace to reign in the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State, a group of lawmakers in the state House of Assembly, under the aegis of Igwebuike Forum, weekend called on the state and national leaderships of the party to organise a true reconciliatory  meeting of the party stakeholders in the state.

This followed the recent meeting of the PDP stakeholders convened at  Emmaus House, Awka by the Information Minister, Professor Dora Akunyili, which was disrupted by supporters of some politicians, whose political godfathers were conspicuously absent at the meeting.

Speaking to reporters, spokesman of the Forum, comprising 20 lawmakers of the 30 PDP dominated legislature, Prince Ebere Ezechukwu, said a reconciliatory meeting of the stakeholders of the party in the state and national secretariat was necessary if the party must win in the 2011 general elections.

According to him, there were fundamental issues which the party at the state and national levels failed to address before the just concluded 6 February  2010 governorship election, adding that it was the inability of the PDP to tackle the matters headlong that robbed it of the poll in the state.
