…Says govt monitoring councils
He said the state government was monitoring councils in the state to ensure that their revenues were being judiciously utilized and said the state government was challenged by the cassava processing factory.
Earlier in his address, Chairman of the local government council, Chief Askia Ogieh said the establishment of the cassava processing factory became foremost in their minds as cassava and the production of garri had been part of their tradition, typified in subsistence production occasioned by low output with all attendant processing difficulties.
Ogieh said the factory has a production capacity of 50 tons of starch production and 24 tons of garri production per day, adding that over 100 persons would be involved directly in cassava multiplication farms and production work at the factory.
He maintained that the purchase of the caterpillar bulldozer / grader/ wheelloader would enhance the opening up of new roads in the area and said that the equipment would also be hired to private and corporate bodies so as to improve the internally generated revenue of the council.
Ogieh said his administration decided to construct an ultra-modern legislative building befitting of legislators with complete inter locking tiles and landscaping and expressed hope that with the provision of the facility councilors would have the necessary comfort for good legislative business.
