ONITSHA—Anambra State Government has started the implementation of the long demanded Teachers Salary Scale, TSS, by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, in the state.

Secretary of the union, Chief Awagu Kenneth who spoke to reporters yesterday at the NUT secretariat, Awka, said government had kept faith with its earlier promise by paying workers the 27.5% TSS that was approved by the Federal Government, which had been implemented by 2/3 of the states in the country.

“We reached agreement with the State Government that the TSS be paid in December last year and the government lived up to its promise. As I am talking to you, the teachers have received their TSS for December and January and we thank the Governor for the kind gesture. The teachers are very happy with him.”
