Last week, I taught on four conditions you must meet before you can be guided by God. This week, as I conclude this teaching, I will show you other conditions that must be met, before you can be guided by God.

By the voice of the Spirit: The Spirit of God speaks to direct us on the right way to go. There was a time when the Spirit said to Philip; “Join yourself to this chariot” (Acts 8:29). God’s Word says: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” (John 16:13). The Spirit still speaks till today!

When we came into Canaan in January 1996, for me to see what this land was like, I was upset and angry. I was wondering how a church can thrive in a bush! But it was the Spirit of God that said, “This is the place.” The Spirit of God is still speaking till today. Do you know what it takes?

The Word says: “I was in the spirit on the Lord’s Day and I heard… (Revelation 1:10). Only those in the spirit can hear the voice of the Spirit. Only men of the Spirit can pick the voice of the Spirit. On May 4, 1994, I was in the car, hungry and tired when I heard the voice of the Spirit. Also, in July 1989, I was in the bathroom ready to have my bath, when I heard the voice of the Spirit.

Only men of the Spirit can pick the voice of the Spirit. I’ll like you, therefore, to be highly spiritual this year, so you can pick what God is saying per time. If somebody is coming to discuss a business deal with you, right there, the Spirit of God tells you to beware of that man. When you pick the voice of the Spirit, it will caution you against hiring a liar, who will be a hindrance to your breakthrough in future. The voice of the Spirit will enable you to walk the fraudulent person out of your office!

By heavenly vision: The unfolding of God’s plan about a man’s life is the beginning of a great future. It is the beginning of that man’s stardom. You never become a star, until you operate within the scope of God’s plan for your life. You have a function. You have a divine assignment. A discovery of this function is what is called vision. Vision is a divine insight into God’s plan for your life.

Let us look at the characteristics of a genuine vision: 1. One major characteristic of a genuine vision is that, it has its source in God. It is God’s revealed plan and has to be traceable to Him. Any vision that does not have its source in God leads to destruction. It might flourish for a while, but sudden destruction is inevitable. For instance, Absalom, the son of King David, had a desire. He wanted so much to become king that he couldn’t even wait for his father to die. His comportment and appearance gained the people’s approval. Being pushed on by his own selfish vision and the people’s, he declared himself king. His vision was not from God. For a while it was sweet, but sudden destruction overtook him. Every vision from God leads to glorification, but the one that is not from God leads to destruction.

2. Genuine visions are plain. They clearly state what to do, when to do it and how to go about it. When God called me into ministry, He made the vision plain before me. If you are still prowling around making claims on visions, better go back to God and ask for your specific assignment. Seek clarity from Him!

3. A God-given vision always imparts a divine drive in the beneficiary, which drives him or her on to accomplishment. This divine drive is zeal. Zeal is that inward excitement that pushes you forward to accomplishing your mission.

4. Vision from God always has a time element. Timing is very important in God’s programme. There is always the time for take-off. The time God calls you to an assignment is not necessarily the time for you to step out. Always get God’s appointed time and walk in it.

Overall, vision gives direction to life. God’s path for you is in the vision He gives you. Without vision, you can’t get your bearings right. So, get your vision and locate your place in God.

Friend, for God to lead you through vision, you need to be saved first. You get saved by confessing your sins, forsaking them and then accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. That is what being born again is all about. You can be saved right now if you haven’t been, as you say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to you today. Forgive me my sins. From today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving me. Now I know I am born again!”
