Suspected kidnappers abduct commissioner’s daughter

AKURE—SIX suspected kidnappers have abducted one of the daughters of the Commissioner for Works in Ondo State, Pastor Yele Omogunwa.

27-year-old Yemi Omogunwa, who is an undergraduate in the University of Cairo, Egypt, was kidnapped few yards to her father’s residence in Akure on Sunday.

Police authorities in the state confirmed the kidnap of the Commissioner’s daughter but said they were on the trail of the abductors.

Reacting to the ugly incident, Ondo State Police PRO, Adeniran Aremu said the commissioner’s daughter would soon be rescued.

The latest kidnap is coming months after the wife of the Lands and Housing Commissioner, Alhaji Sikiru Basaru and the wife of the Permanent Secretary OSOPADEC, Dr Alli were taken hostage by kidnappers.

Vanguard gathered that Yemi who returned from church that fateful day was watching movies till around 7pm only to take a walk within the premises when the kidnappers pounced on her.

She was taken away without putting up any fight with the kidnappers who it was learnt, threatened to shoot her if she raised any alarm that would attract attention.

It was gathered that her parents who were not around when the incident happened thought she went out to visit her friends only to call her mobile phone at about 9pm and learnt that it had been switched off.

The development led to the father suspecting that something might have happened to his daughter after which a search party was raised to comb the metropolis.
