Omatek set to commence second phase of Ekiti electrification project

Omatek Ventures Plc  is set to commence the second phase of its electrification project with the Ekiti State Government.

The company, recently installed the first ever 24-hour alternative power (Green energy) solution in Nigeria at the Baptist High School, Igede Ekiti, Ekiti state using Solar and Light Emitting Diodes (LED) technology.

The second phase of the project, according to a statement by the company, will involve the electrification of additional 22 schools across different rural geographical locations in the state.

The project is in line with the state government’s commitment towards educational upliftment, especially in the rural communities using the opportunities presented by the Omatek Solar hybrid alternate power solution.

Speaking after an inspection tour of the site of the recently concluded project, the Ekiti State Governor, Engineer Olusegun Oni expressed satisfaction over the project, indicating that Omatek has lived up to expectation especially with the timely completion of the project which is expected to bring succour to the school which has never had electricity supply because it has not been linked to the national grid.

He also commended the company’s continuous innovation. “This will improve the quality of education in our school as students will now have the opportunity to learn under a conducive environment, have access to e-learning materials and generally be in tune with their counterparts in other parts of the world,” Oni said.

The statement quoted the Governor as saying that the state is considering other areas of partnership with the company to empower civil servants in the state towards owning Computers, Home Entertainment products, Power products under the Omatek eXpress scheme.

Group Managing Director of Omatek Ventures Plc, Engineer (Mrs.) Florence Seriki, stated that the company will continue to provide Information Communication and Technology (ICT) products and solutions that confer unsurpassed value to its customers.

She explained that the unique feature of the Omatek 24-hour alternative power solution is that the solution combines the benefits of the solar system and those of the LED technology to proffer solutions that reduce energy consumption while saving costs.

She said, “The use of the Omatek Solar/ LED Solution can result in significant operational and maintenance cost savings for homes, schools, offices, street lighting implementation, rural electrification, among others. The Solar project is a classical result of painstaking Research and Development.”

She thanked Governor for believing in the company and added that she had held similar discussions with other state governors in this regards, with a view to helping them take advantage of the Omatek 24-hour alternate solar powered solution which has the potential of many years of trustworthy use, with minimum maintenance required.
