Nigeria needs a developmental coach, Anyansi

By Kate Obodo
Enyimba Football Club of Aba chairman,  Felix Anyansi-Agwu has advised the Nigeria Football Association  to hire a coach who will usher in total development of the game in the country.

Anyansi’s advice is coming at a time the NFA is yet to conclude on who to employ as the Super Eagles Technical Adviser for the 2010 World Cup later in the year in South Africa.

According to him, the coach should help develop the country’s national team so that it can compete with world class teams. Anyansi added that the  idea of hiring  a coach for just a limited time is not ideal but one that would help rebuild the team over a long time.

“The people at the helm of affairs know the kind of direction they want to give Nigerian football . The kind of coach we need is not the one that will come and win the World Cup for us and go. I think the kind of coach Nigerians  need this time is a coach that will develop the  football industry in Nigeria.

“Now we really need a coach that will improve and re-brand our football, football is a very big industry which needs  proper handling. And if we don’t develop our football, so many people will be out of job,” Anyansi submitted.

When asked his opinion on Shuaibu Amodu’s redeployment as the head coach of Super Eagles, he said the NFA  has every authority to do what they did especially, being his employers.

“He has a contract with the NFA and as an employer, they determine what to do with their employee. And as an employee if you do not meet the demand of your employers, they have every right to do any thing. I don’t see anything wrong with that,” he concluded.
