NDDC begins needs assessment of communities

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has commenced an assessment of the project needs of various communities in the Niger Delta region with a view to ensuring that only projects and services that meet the needs of the people are provided.

Managing Director of the Commission, Mr. Chibuzor Ugwoha disclosed this when officials of the Rivers State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners paid him a courtesy call at the NDDC Corporate Headquarters in Port Harcourt.

He said the exercise was in line with the Commission’s determined efforts to embark on projects that impact directly on the lives of the people, adding “ by so doing, we will be realizing President Yar’Adua’s dream of a new Niger Delta where people can live in an environment that is friendly.”

Mr. Ugwoha challenged the town planners to be part of the success story of the new Niger Delta Region by offering their expertise advice at the planning stage of every service delivery.
