Mimiko assures on democracy dividends

Akure—GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State yesterday promised not to disappoint the people of the state in the delivery of the dividends of democracy in years ahead.

He spoke at a carnival held in Akure, the Ondo State capital to mark the one year anniversary of his administration which at the Akure Sports Stadium.

Dr. Mimiko said that his administration has been able to bridge the long standing disconnect between the government and the governed and better their lots.

Dr. Mimiko appealed to the people of the state to be patient with his administration because of the circumstances in which the present administration came into power.

The governor noted that his administration inherited development challenges from its predecessor coupled with the feeling of fear and hopelessness “arising from a siege mentality on the people of the state.

According to him, “with the glory of God Almighty, I am delighted that the despondency of a year ago is now giving way to hope and enthusiasm.

“The dark atmosphere of fear is being supplanted by the spirit of freedom, positive expectation, openness, conciliation and these have deepened the trust between the government and the people”.
