Izon compulsory in Burutu schools

WARRI—THE Legislative arm of Burutu Local Government Area in Delta State has passed a bill making the teaching and learning of Izon (Ijaw) language in all public and private primary schools in the area compulsory.

The bill was co-sponsored by four councilors, Togoland Oruebi, Fred Brisibe, Ebi Ebikebaikefie and Miebi Biakpara. Majority leader of the legislative arm, Miebi Biakpara moved the motion for the bill to be read the third time and passed, and the motion was seconded by Apu Tonkiri.
