The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has been advised by the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola(SAN) to go back to the grassroots development if the country wants to gain back it respect position in the round leather game.
Governor Fashola who gave this advice during the commissioning of the Campos mini stadium at Ajele Lagos Island said that the only way to produce the best players was to discover them while they are still young adding that by going the proper channel to discover the players, Nigeria will a team to be beaten.
â€œThis is how a real players can be discovered, the football authority in this country should go back to cash them young system, the grassroots way if the country wants to gain back its authority in the round leather game.
During our own time when we are playing ,we did not have this opportunity playing on a synthetic grass, we played on the street sides and bruises our hands and legs but i congratulate you today with this facilities made available for use.
â€œWith what i have seen i am convinced that we have no reasons as a nation in age controversy when its come to sports in this country, our nation resourceful richly blessed and what we need to do is to plane , to prepare and to work hard and the under 13 we just saw playing here were fished out of Lagos and we still have so many of them in all part of this country. We need to wake up from our sleep and do what is necessary, we will dominate this continent,Â we can dominate this world if we truly work hard.â€
Fashola hinted that the technical trainers that were certified from six major European countries and as been involved in developing and training young people for the past fifteen years will be running regularÂ coaching clinics and development strategies in the centre and across all the sports centres in Lagos.
He however hinted that soonest Agege stadium which is the bigger fashion of this stadium with the same artificial turf will be delivered to Lagosians ,also similar facility in Epe, Badagry and in Ikorodu will be provided.
