FUT Minna expels 5 students for alleged rape

Minna — Federal University of Technology, FUT, Minna has expelled five of its students for allegedly raping a female student of the institution.

Three students are also charged with criminal conspiracy and indecent assault.

The students involved are Kevin Ajiboye of Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering, Chidi Ebere Makwuguwo of
Mathematics and Computer Science Department and Lanre Oseya of Chemistry Department.

It was reliably gathered that the assaulted female student had gone to visit her boyfriend in the off campus but did not meet her lover. While waiting for her “Romeo”, the three male students who are said to be co-tenants with the boyfriend alegedly connived to rape her before the arrival of the lover boy.

The incidence was reported by the girl to her boyfriend on arrival and the aggrieved “Romeo” reported the case at the Bosso Police Station and the three boys were arrested.

The case has now been transferred to a Minna Magistrate Court for trial.
Public Relations Officer of the university, Mrs. Lydia Legbo who confirmed the story said the university authority on getting the police report set up its own independent investigation committee and found the three students guilty, hence their expulsion.
