Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has insisted that the Constitution must be followed over the state of health of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and the state of the state of the Nation.
Secretary CAN, Venerable Peter Ogunmuyiwa, stated this at the weekend, at a press briefing on the Abuja Night of Power scheduled to hold on Friday 12th February 2010 at Papal’s Ground along Kubuwa Road, Abuja, featuring Williams Kumuyi, General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church and other Ministers of God.
He said since Nigeria has a Constitution that guides the nation, then the 1999 Constitution must be followed.
According to him, “The constitution of the country must be followed, if we have the constitution that guides us and we have been making use of it in all other situations there is no reason why it must be set aside at this moment, that is the mind of the church.â€
Ogunmuyiwa noted that, the church was not joining issues with politicians but the church leaders are not diplomatic about the issues.
“We can’t join issue with politicians but is certain is that “we are by the side of the constitution of this country and it must be followedâ€.
On issues of other challenges facing the country, he said there is a structure on ground set up to look at those issues.
He said National Inter_religious Council (NIREC) headed by CAN President and Sultan of Sokoto has been set up to ensure that all religious organizations have a common voice to move the country forward.
“We have NAIREC and we meet to come up with a common decision what we come up with represent the decision of religious body in Nigeriaâ€.
