Apart from now setting the record for the most awards won in a single year by a solo female,Â Knowles will now have a total of 16 Grammys sitting on her shelve as she continues to dominate global pop/R&B music.
The six categories Beyonce came tops are : â€˜Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best Pop Vocal Performance, Song Of the Year and Best R&B song. Taylor Swift didnâ€™t pack as much prizes as Beyonce, but she went home with four gongs â€“ including the coveted â€˜Album of the yearâ€™ where Beyonce was also in contention.
Other big Grammy winners include Beyonceâ€™s husband Jay Z, The Black Eyed Peas, Kings Of Leon, Lady GaGa and Eminem. The two NigerianÂ nominees in the competition were not very lucky.
Femi Kuti lost the Best Contemporary World Music Album category to Grammy veteran Bela Fleck while Seal lost the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category to Jaso Mraz. Kuti was performing at his â€˜Shrineâ€™ in Lagos when his category was announced.
