BAUCHI â€” Bauchi State Commissioner of Housing and Environment, Alhaji Mohammed Lele Raga, is dead.
The late Lele Raga,Â 65, died on Monday night at the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi.
A family source told Vanguard that the former commissioner slumped in his residence in Bauchi and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost.
Lele Raga was two-time chairman of Gamawa Local Government Area; a member of the state House of Assembly from 1992-1993 and Director of the state governorâ€™s campaign organisation in 2007.
Funeral prayers were held for him yesterday at the palace of the Emir of Bauchi.
He is survived by two widows and 16 children.
Gov declares public holiday
Following the death of the former commissioner, Governor Isa Yuguda declared yesterday a work-free day and a three-day mourning period from yesterday throughout the state in his honour.
This was contained inÂ a press released signed by theÂ Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Dandija.
It said: “In view of the immense contributions of the late Alhaji Mohammed Lele Raga to the development of the state, the state government has declared three days mourning throughout the state.”
The state government requested prayers during the mourning period for the soul of the deceased.
