Anambra: Ex-minister decries money-for-votes

By  Tony Edike

ENUGU—ELDER STATESMAN and first republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amechi has expressed disappointment at the excessive display of wealth by some candidates in the Anambra State governorship election campaigns.

Speaking with reporters at his Ukpor country home in Nnewi South Local Government Area, Chief Amechi noted with regret that the contestants have not displayed real electoral depth, which the founding fathers of the state were known for in their campaign messages.

He wondered what some of the candidates would do for the people if elected other than to strive to recover the staggering material resources they have invested in their campaigns.

Chief Amechi prayed God to give the people of Anambra, the right leader, who will serve their interest and rule by consultation.

Speaking in the same vein, former Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Retired Col. Joe Achuzia said Anambra people should not find it difficult to elect the right political leader going by the ease with which their leaders in commerce and industry emerge.
