Abia Assembly summons FERMA over failed roads

Umuahia—WORRIED by the bad state of federal roads in Abia State, the state House of Assembly has summoned the federal Controller of Works and FERMA in the state to brief the House on what they were doing to fix the roads.

Their invitation followed a resolution by the House arising from  a motion of urgent national importance, moved on the floor of the House. The House said the Controllers will tell the members if Abians were still part of Nigeria and why the neglect.

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Chief Chinedum Elechi, who disclosed this weekend during his monthly media briefing, explained that Abians were suffering untold hardship as a result of the deplorable state of federal roads in the state, hence the need for the Controller to explain what they were doing to fix the roads.

Meanwhile, the House had begun screening of the names sent to it by Governor Orji as nominees for the proposed Abia State Oil Producing Development Commission, ASOPADEC.

The 11-member Commission has Mr. Samuel Nwogu as chairman. Other mambers include,Mr. Emeka Stanley, Chikere Nwannunu, George  Kalu, Eze L.O. Uche,Uche Mbama, Peter Agonmba, who will serve as the secretary as well as representatives of the Ministries of Finance, Planning commission and Petroleum Resources.
