By  Gbenga Olarinoye

OSOGBO—Amidst speculations that he would defect to the Labour Party, LP, if not given the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, has denied the rumour, insisting that he remains the best candidate for the 2011 gubernatorial election in the state.

Akinbade who described the rumour as unfounded maintained  that he cannot leave the PDP he led to victory at the 2003 polls in his capacity as the state party chairman.

Speaking weekend, spokesman for Fatai Akinbade Campaign Organisation, FACO, Barrister Olaoba Efuntayo, said
Akinbade remained a loyal and dedicated leader of PDP in Osun State.

Efuntayo who said there was no iota of truth in the rumour that Akinbade was planning to dump PDP and contest on the platform of Labour Party in the 2011 elections, assured that the gubernatorial aspirant would not like to destroy the house he had built.

His words,  “Alhaji Akinbade was a pioneer member of PDP and was a former Chairman of the party in the state. So, it is not possible to build a house and pull it down. There is no truth in the rumour that he wants to leave the PDP and join the Labour Party in 2011.”
