2007 Poll: S/Court stops Albishri as Yobe gov

By Ise-Oluwa Ige, Abuja

The protracted legal battle by Senator Usman Albashir to invalidate the electoral process that produced late
Senator Mamman Ali as the Governor of Yobe state in 2007 with a view to procuring a separate order declaring him the lawful candidate and winner of the gubernatorial poll in the state has finally crumbled yesterday.

That was after a five-member panel of the Supreme Court headed by Justice George Oguntade declared that Albashir  lawsuit challenging the substitution of his name by his political party, ANPP, in 2007, for late Senator Mamman Ali was no longer valid.
