NO fewer than 14 persons were weekend roasted to death in a ghastly road accident at Ikpoba Hill district in Benin on the Benin-Agbor-Onitsha carriage way.
Four of the accident victims are now in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital in Benin.
Vanguard gathered that the fast-speeding 18-seater bus somersaulted three times when the driver attempted to avoid a pothole and burst into flames.
Eye-witnesses said only four of the passengers could be rescued while the other 14 were trapped in the fire.
An eye-witness said men of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, were stopped by some sympathisers at the scene of the accident as they were pelted with stones.
FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr. Olatunji Henry, confirmed the accident, adding that his men were prevented by some people to carry out any operation.
