SMC Swiss University, one of the world’s online university has expanded its CSR campaign to Africa . The online university through its African students made some significant donations to touch the lives of the local communities and improve the quality of life at the grassroots.
The frontline university made transformational donations of supplies and toys to the Osu Children’s Home in Ghana The project was a brainchild of SMC Professor, Erasmus Moyo and a Ghanaian student — Dominic Osei. The essence is to ignite the mental development of the children at the orphanage.
Speaking to Pressmen at the event, the Academic Director of SMC University , Dr. Günther Singer noted that the donation was conceived through a fun consequence for coming late during residency. “Students learned how to create mental triggers to shift behaviors as leaders, resulting in the class ending with a significant donation to the Children’s home where many orphans lived,†he explained.
According to the Director, some students — Dr. Ted Sun and Julia Liu — extended their efforts to make purchases in crowded markets for needed supplies like soap, baby formula, toys and drinks. He stated that, “they personally delivered the supplies to the Osu Children’s home and shared much laughter with them as they gave them something new and exciting. The children’s favorite toy was blowing bubbles.â€
Dr. Singer stated that SMC University is committed to offering the best virtual learning platform through which students can access class materials from home or any remote location. “Students from more than 90 different countries are enrolled in SMC University ’s distance learning programs. Many of them take advantage of the opportunity to supplement the online part of their studies by exchanging experiences during short_term residencies.
