Pepsi, official sponsor of the African Cup of Nations going on in Angola, has urged Nigerians to continue with their support and prayers as the Senior National Team, the Super Eagles confront the Black Stars of Ghana on Thursday in the semi-final of the CAN Angola 2010 Championship.

Mr. Mazen Al Masri, Marketing Manager, PepsiCo International, said that this call has become important in view of the perceived not-too-impressive performance by the Super Eagles in their quarter-final match against the Chipolopolo of Zambia on Monday.

Mr. Al Masri admitted that the Super Eagles may not have displayed the kind of performance that Nigerians expected of them during the match, saying that the most important thing was that they came out victorious at the end of the match.

“I empathize with many Nigerians and Super Eagles fans that were very much disappointed with the team’s performance against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in their quarter-final encounter at the ongoing Angola 2010 African Cup of Nations. One important lesson that we need to learn from that encounter is that there are no longer underdogs in African football. Every team is as important as the other”, he said.
