As Super Eagles get set to lock horns with Zambia in one of tomorrow’s quarter-final matches at the 27th Orange Africa Nation’s Cup in Lubango, former Rangers assistant coach, Sylvanus Okpala has warned them against underrating the Zambians. He has therefore, urge them to put up a strong defence in other to ward off their opponent’s onslaught.
According to the former Green Eagles player, “the Zambians are young, fast, intelligent and ambitious in their game and could do everything to destabilise their opponents.â€Â He advised the Eagles not to be soft in their defence but to be more offensive in the attack as it will go a long way in demoralising them. He stressed the need for the Eagles to be more aggressive in their marking and also put more pressure on the Zambians.
“It is not going to be an easy match, because the Zambians play good football. They are well organised, they have character in the sense that they can run fast, they play for 90 minutes without slowing down and they score goals. They have the character of taking the lead with early goal.
It is going to be a difficult match for both teams. Nigeria have to raise their game and read them very well. You could see how they played with Cameroun and the Gabonese,”he said.
