Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Council gets caretaker c’ttee

By Jimitota Onoyume
PORT HARCOURT—RIVERS State government has constituted a caretaker committee for the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Council.

This followed the dissolution of the council on grounds of insecurity by the State House of Assembly last year.
Swearing in the chairman of the new committee, Mr. Andrew Ugworah, at Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Chibuike Amaechi charged the committee to shun corruption and other issues likely to affect the peace in the area.

The governor warned the committee against fraud, vowing that the chairman would be prosecuted if such is detected.
He reminded the committee that the duly-elected council executive was dissolved on grounds of insecurity in the area and directed the chairman to  ensure there was no breakdown of law and order.

“I will hold you responsible because you are now the chief security officer of the council,” Amaechi said, emphasising that the government was desirous of ensuring peace in all local government areas.

Other members of the caretaker committee include Mr. Charles Ogbuyi, Mr. Godspower Ahiaidu, Mr. Gift Obulor, Mr. Felix Olisa, Mrs. Mary Wokocha and Mr. Sunny Obowu.
