There is no doubt that Ocean Bank International plc, is poised for greater growth this financial year, as the bank has successfully repositioned itself for viable economic activities, despite the rancor between the former bank management and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which led to the exit of the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Cecilia Ibru.

Sunday Vanguard gathered that the bank has adopted Systems Application and Products in Data Processing, known as (SAP) technology, to create a synergy in all it operations in different branches nationwide.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Serve Consulting, SAP’s foremost technology partner and solutions provider in Africa, Mr. Adeola Adejuyigbe, told Sunday Vanguard that, Oceanic bank is the only financial institution in Nigeria that has fully implemented SAP solution for it operations.

Adejuyigbe explained, “application of SAP technology in Oceanic Bank Plc has fostered efficiency in the organisation, thereby repositioning the bank for future expansion and optimum growth. The complexities experienced by Human Resource Managers in handling over 6000 employees manually in terms of staff record, overtime, salaries, bonuses, allowances, leaves, promotion and  assessments are enormous.

This was the situation at Oceanic bank regardless of the software that was in use before SAP HR implementation.  At present, the new solution has increased the speed of information processing and the entire banking transactions of the organisation”.

He asserted, “with this new technology in place, the bank could determine it assets base on the first day of a new financial year and stands a better chance of transacting big businesses with huge financial gains. SAP is the world biggest and best supplier of software solution that creates a linkage in businesses.

We partner with SAP to offer this technology locally to companies in Nigeria for them to maximise their outputs to stay afloat in business. We understand the business terrain in Nigeria , as such, we configure this technology to fit into our system for various companies, whether multi-nationals, manufacturing firms or small scale enterprises”.

He, for instance, noted, “aside from banks, the manufacturing firms require the right technology to make the real sector solid. As trusted advisor, we interact with them regularly in order to proffer solutions.

At present, we have a simpler solution called Business One, for small scale enterprises.  We have also offered SAP services for companies like Shell, Nigerian Breweries, Oceanic Bank, British American Tobacco, Nigeria Debt Management office, Dangote cement, Nigerian German Chemicals, Total Nigeria and Delta State government among others. We received awards twice in three years from SAP Africa in recognition of our applications”.
