Ngiges canvass support for Igbo language

By Emmanuel Aziken

Abuja—The Action Congress, AC, candidate in next month’s gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige and his wife Evelyn, have called for the promotion of the use of Igbo language among children in the state.

The couple who expressed worry on the diminishing use of Igbo language among the Igbo,  cautioned that Nigeria’s quest for greatness could be endangered, if children failed to identify with their language and culture.

The couple spoke at a New Year party they hosted for children in their home at Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

“Children, I mean that you should start speaking Igbo to yourselves. We don’t want our language to vanish because you people will inherit tomorrow. And for our tomorrow in Anambra State, you must learn to speak Igbo,”  Ngige advised.
