Kwara Poly sets up c’ttee on dressing

By Demola Akinyemi

Ilorin — Worried by the indiscriminate mode of students’ dressing on campus, the authorities of  Kwara State Polytechnic has set up a committee to tackle the menace.

The management said it has also intensified efforts to explore all necessary potential sources of revenue to boost its Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

The Rector of the institution, Alhaji Mas‘ud Elelu disclosed this recently in his office during an interview with journalists.

On the dressing problem, the Rector explained that no success could be attained by the present leadership  unless the rising problem of indecent dressing is solved.

Elelu  also noted the funding of the polytechnic  has become necessary given a declining state of the federation allocation accrued to the state, adding that the institution’s management is embarking on an aggressive IGR drive to complement government’s funding of the institution.

He who lauded govern-ment’s funding of the Polytechnic, noting that the only way it can realise the objectives for which it was set up over 35 years ago is for it to look inward and be proactive in its search for alternative funding.
