DUTSE — Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido has presented a budget of N70.9 billion to the state House of Assembly for the 2010 fiscal year.
Speaking at the occasion, Lamido explained that the budget, which is 7.6% higher than the 2009 budget, is made up of N29.6 billion, or 43% of the total budget for recurrent expenditure, while N39.5 billion, or 57%, is for capital projects.
He said it is designed to continue with the pursuit of policies and programmes that would lead to economic and better human development.
The governor stated that the 2010 budget would equally sustain and improve on those current efforts that enable the government and the people of the state achieve remarkable progress in their socio-economic well-being within a short time.
He added that over 26% of the entire budget is proposed for education sector alone.
