Enugu toreward civil servants

Enugu—Civil servants who excel in Enugu State will receive automatic promotion, Mr Chris Ugwu, Head of Service, has said.

Ugwu made this known yesterday in Enugu in an interview with newsmen.

According to him, this is part of measures to motivate workers for effective and efficient service delivery, adding that the modalities were being worked out.

He assured workers of regular and prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements this year.
“Workers in the state will have cause to smile this year as adequate arrangements had been put in place to improve their welfare,” he said.

Ugwu said from now on, workers in the parastatals and agencies would be earning the same salaries as their counterparts in the ministries.

He said that the Governor, Mr Sullivan Chime, had approved the increase in subventions this year.
He also said that the Governor had approved the renovation of the buildings of some ministries in order to create conducive environment for workers.

He appealed to workers to be punctual, dedicated and hard working.

Ugwu also said that government would commence the use of biometric data from the first quarter of this year to detect ‘ghost workers.’
