After some poor showing in their semi final clash with Zambia, Nigeria needed a penalty shoot-out to cruise into the semifinal of the ongoing Nations Cup. They won 5-4.

Vincent Enyeama ended the hero of the Nigerian side. He saved one kick and took Nigeria’s last kick which he clinically scored.
Zambia looked fitter, stronger and created more chances.

But they were awful in front of goal. They were so timid in the attack that when Nigeria were reduced to ten men following the red card to Onyekachi Apam they still could not knock Nigeria out of any stride. Mikel Obi, Obafemi Martins, Obinna Nsofor, Osaze Odenwengie all scored their kicks.

Nigeria will play Ghana in the semifinal on Thursday. Ghana eliminated hosts Angola. They are being commended in the whole continent for parading up to ten players who are under the age of 21. They, therefore, could be faster than the Zambians who outran Eagles many times but lacked good finishing.“They were a strong side but we were technically better and held on till we won on penalties,” Enyeama said after the match.
