Anambra : Uba tasks electorate on protest vote

By  Enyim Enyim

ONITSHA—Labour Party, LP,  candidate in Anambra State for the February 6, governorship election, Dr Andy Uba has advised the electorate in the state to cast a protest vote against the Peoples Democratic Party, for the alleged injustice meted out to him by denying him an automatic ticket of the party when he lost at the Court of Appeal, where he had sought to be declared a Governor in waiting.

Uba gave the charge during his campaign tours of Orumba North and South, Nnewi North, Anocha, Dunukofia and Awka North Local Government areas of the state.

He said it was the height of injustice for the PDP to deny him an automatic ticket, when it was a well known fact that he won the 2007 governorship poll and was duly sworn in as Governor before the Supreme Court asked him to step aside for Mr Peter Obi to complete his four year tenure.

While soliciting their votes during the February 6 election, the LP candidate promised to improve the welfare of the people as well as return the state to its past glory by ensuring security, providing  jobs, infrastructure and other amenities.

Traditional rulers of the areas he visited, Igwe Promise Eze, Igwe Orizu, Igwe Robert Eze, Igwe Ezeani Onwuameze among others, blessed him and assured him of their support at the poll.

Uba said that in spite of the injustice done to him by the PDP,  he will change Anambra State for the better if given the mandate.
