Anambra : Iwuanyanwu blasts PDP decampees

By  Charles Kumolu

AWKA—A CHIEFTAIN of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and leader of South East Caucus of the party, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has  berated former PDP members, who decamped from the party after the Anambra State gubernatorial primaries, describing them as  selfish and uncommitted politicians.

He also threw his weight behind the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Professor Charles Soludo, saying that he (Soludo) was God’s answer to years of prayer by Igbo for a visionary leader.

Iwuanyanwu who stated this at a rally in Isuofia, home town of Professor Soludo, said only the  PDP can provide the platform for Igbo to produce Nigeria ’s president in the future, even as he called for  support for the ruling party.

He regretted that the state chapter of the party  had been in crises for some years because of bad leadership, adding that  the crisis provoked many concerned citizens of the state and South East to embark on prayers for a decent leader to emerge.

According to him, “Igbo want to be president of a nation that they have made much sacrifice for. We are the largest shareholders in the Nigerian project and our investment is everywhere. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe tried to be president under the NCNC, but it didn’t work.

“We tried it under NPP and it didn’t work. I contested election to be president but like Moses, God has shown me the promise land and unless Igbo support the PDP, we will not get there and whether you like Soludo or not, your vote for him is for Igbo progress because he is the most qualified and most prominent,” he added.
