Tragedy struck yesterday at Orile Iganmu area of Lagos, when a three-year-old girl was crushed  by a truck, throwing the entire area into mourning.

The deceased identified as Hawuwa Bada, was sent to an early grave after the truck with number plate  XM 204 BDG, loaded with sand, apparently had a break failure and ran over Hawuwa and her grandmother.

The late Hawuwa, it was gathered, was left in the care of her grandmother, Mrs Mosumola Hammed, by her parents, who travelled to Ilorin, Kwara State for last week’s Sallah  celebration.

Unaware that danger was lurking ahead, the little girl was said to have accompanied her grandmother to buy some items, when they were ran over by the truck on their way back.

While the grandmother was rushed to a nearby hospital, same could not be said of little Hawuwa,  whose mangled body was trapped under the back tyre of the truck.

The mob was said to have been at the verge of setting the driver, his two assistance, including the truck ablaze, when policemen from Iganmu division, arrived.

The incident threw residents of number 24, Imale Nfe-Alafia Street, Orile-Iganmu into mourning as preparations was being made to remove the little girl’s trapped remains  under the tyre for burial.
