AWKA—IKEMBA Nnewi and leader of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, yesterday in the commercial town of Onitsha, Anambra State told the people of the state to vote massively for the APGA candidate in the February 2010 election and incumbent Governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi because by doing so, they would be making him (Ojukwu) happy.
Speaking during the flag- off of the APGA candidate’s re-election campaign at the Holy Trinity Cathedral field, Onitsha, Ojukwu said that the performance of Obi in the last four years was a delight to every Nigerian, adding that the party was very dear to him.
“You know I am getting old and one favour I ask of you, my dear people at this time is to vote this my son again into office again to enable our people to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy,†he said.
He said as a loyal party man, he fully identified with the travails of Obi and is therefore happy to identify with his successes, which had made every APGA member happy.
He welcomed people from other parts of the country, especially the South West and the Northern communities, who were at the rally in large numbers and pledged on behalf of the party that the second tenure of Obi would benefit everybody residing in the state, irrespective of where the person came from.
National chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh urged the people to vote for Obi because he would never disappoint them, adding there is no godfather to be on his neck to order him to open the treasury of Anambra State for him, as was the case in the past.
Besides, he said, Obi was not the type of person that could go to a shrine to mortgage the fate of Anambra people, adding that it was the absence of godfathers that had made it possible for the APGA government to record impressive achievements in all sectors since the Governor came to office in 2006.
