Makurdi residents decry land speculators

By Peter Duru

MAKURDI — Residents of Makurdi, the Benue State capital have decried the activities of land speculators in the town who they lamented were frustrating the state government’s efforts at making land acquisition less cumbersome for intending land owners.

Speaking under the aegis of Concerned Makurdi Residents (CMR), leader of the group, Mr. John Terver, lamented that the process of land acquisition in the state capital had suddenly become a herculean task as a result of the unpatriotic act of a selected few who would stop at nothing to exploit the people.

The CMR leadership who took cognizance of the efforts of the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mr. John Tondo to check cases of sharp practices in land acquisition in the town, urged him to go a step further by doing an in-house cleansing.
