Award winning song writer and lyricist whose song
“Behold the lamb†won a second place in 1994 St Paul Choral Competition held amongst its parishes at Ojo Military Cantonment Lagos, Andrew Itua, is set to release his maiden album entitled “Sweet Fragrance of Worshipâ€.
The album, which will be unveiled at a presentation and public hearing billed for 19th December, 2009 at City of Life Church Auditorium, Plot 530 Lateef jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja – Lagos contains 8 tracks with a hit track “Lead Meâ€.
In the words of Itua, plans for the presentation are in top gear as gospel music presenters on radio and television stations across the city, comedians and great men of God including Buchi, who recently celebrated a decade of absolute gospel music and a book entitled “Ceasefireâ€, have been invited as special guests.
According to the artiste who is not happy that appreciable air play is not given to the promotion of gospel music, gospel music impacts more on the lives of the people. It is capable of healing and deliverance from oppression and depression.
Itua said that there is a spirit behind every song and the one behind gospel music enables God to adequately express Himself, adding that the gospel music genre has been made to lose potentials because of the involvement of artistes who don’t have personal relationship with the personality behind the musical brand.
Itua, who has performed alongside notable acts like Ori-Okoro and Kingsley Ike of “ Wamilele†fame during Dr. Ron Kenoly’s first coming to Nigeria at The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), said that the unique point about sweet fragrance worship is its lyrical content. eggae, hip hop, funk and high life idioms.
