Father of five electrocuted in Imo

OWERRI—A middle aged man and father of five, Mr. Raphael Aka, has been electrocuted in the premises of a block moulding industry in Orji, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.

Vanguard investigations revealed that the deceased, who was an indigene of Umueze Uzoagba, Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state, was also employed in the block industry as a truck driver.

An eye witness account narrated that the unfortunate driver mistakingly touched the ‘stay’ cable belonging to Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), as he tried to ease himself.

It was also gathered that late Mr. Aka had earlier delivered the first set of vibrated blocks to the company’s  customer before going to a nearby restaurant to eat.

Vanguard was also told that it was while he was going back to the block industry, that he stopped at the gate to ease himself,  that the unfortunate  incident occurred.

Reacting to the incident, one of the Directors of the block industry, Mr. Iyke Uzoma, described the incident as “most unfortunate.” He maintained that late Mr. Aka was “a simple, loving and hard working man.”

Meanwhile, the remains of Mr. Aka has been deposited in a mortuary, after some officers from Owerri North Divisional Police Headquarters visited the scene of the incident.
