Fashola denies AC rift

By Charles Kumolu

LAGOS — Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State  has dismissed insinuations that there is rift in the Action Congress, AC, saying the party remains a better alternative among all the political parties in Nigeria.

He also declared that AC had the capacity to defeat any party in Nigeria, adding that the party would continue to offer good governance.

Fashola,  said this yesterday in Lagos at the pre-convention public lecture, adding: “Those who think that we are fighting in our great party are dreaming. If they don’t wake up on time, the on-going development in Lagos will bypass them. We remain a great party that offers quality debate on issues that border on national development.”

He said AC did not benchmark its goals like the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), adding that developmental goals are meant to be continuous.

“Those who seek political office in our party don’t do it for self aggrandizment. We have the capacity to defeat any opposition on national development. Our goals are not benchmarked because governance is a continuous thing.

“So, ours is not millennium development goals. Bench marking is not acceptable to us,” he said.

He said the party would not fail the expectations of the Nigerians, adding that AC would continue to confront history.

“It is the expectation of the country that we provide qaulity leadership. We will confront history,” Fashola added.
