Don’t release funds to NADESSTU, Uduaghan urged

By Emma Arubi

WARRI—DELTA State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has been called upon not to release any fund to the coffers of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) due to allegations of  embezzlement of over N6 million levelled against its president and others.

Secretary General of NADESSTU, Comrade Ejesi Yemi Stanley, said in a letter to the governor that “the senate president, financial secretary and some other joint executive members of the association are not students and as such are not executive members of the association in line with the association’s constitution.”

Stanley alleged that the co-option of non-students into the student body executive was the making of the special adviser to the governor on student affairs, stressing that the move was to render the association voiceless and assist in the process of defrauding the association.

According to him, “the president, the unconstitutional senate president and financial secretary and the S.A to the governor have embezzled and misappropriated over N6 million of the student body’s funds since January 2009.”

Stanley added that he was brutally attacked in Asaba by men of the state security service (SSS) for being too inquisitive.
