Christians, Muslims pray for Yar’Adua in Kaduna

By Emeka Mamah

KADUNA — As anxiety persists over President Umaru Yar’Adua’s state of health, hundreds of Christians and Muslims yesterday prayed for his quick recovery in Kaduna, capital of the old Northern region.

The prayer session tagged “Nigerians Pray for President Yar’Adua Campaign” took place at the Arewa Hall, where big posters of the President and Governor Mohammed Namadi Sambo adorned most parts of the expansive compound as well as inside the building.

One Dr. Samuel Ebedomi led the Christian prayers while Alhaji Abdullahi Gambo led the Islamic prayers.

Both clerics said during the prayers that the country was lying prostrate because of Yar’Adua’s ill health in the last 30 days and pleaded with the almighty God to heal him quickly so that he would rejoin Nigerians at home before the end of the year.

Emedomi claimed that the President’s ill health was caused by “wicked people who must have gathered to trade with his life,” asking God “to cancel whatever price they must have placed” on his life.
“Wherever the wicked ones must have gathered to trade with the President’s life and whatever price tag they must have placed on the life of the President must be cancelled.

“Whatever power, libation they must have poured must be cancelled and has been cancelled in Jesus’ name and we decree and cancel it now.

“Yar’Adua is our president where ever he is. We pray that the President be with us before the end of this year.

Also, Gambo told the prayer warriors that God as the author of life could take it whenever He wished, saying all that Nigerians can do is to pray for his quick discharge from the hospital at Saudi Arabia to continue with his good work for the country.

Coordinators of the “Nigerians Pray for Yar’Adua Campaign,” who spoke on the need for  the prayers  “hoped for the best turn of events” on the President just as the Chairman of EXIMAB group of companies which bankrolled the event, Alhaji Ahmad Umar, condemned those clamouring for the takeover of government by the Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, saying  they are callous.

“I appeal to all Nigerians, irrespective of creed, gender, tribe and political affiliations to continue to pray for President  Umaru Yar’Adua’s quick recovery and also for peace, unity, stability and development of the country,” Umar said.
