CBN approves three new EDs for ETB

The Central Bank of   Nigeria (CBN) has  approved the appointment of three executive directors for Equitorial Trust Bank (ETB) to strengthen the executive management of the bank. They are Messrs. Femi Obaleke, Sola Fakeye and Tilewa Adebajo.

Before their appointments, Mr. Obaleke and Mr. Fakeye were General Manager/Zonal Business Head, South South  and Deputy General Manager/Business Development of the bank respectively while Mr. Adebajo was the chief executive of Investment Banking Boutique.

Mr. Obaleke is a distinguished banker with 20 years rich experience in credit administration, treasury operations and international operations. He is a product of University of Ibadan, University of Port Harcourt and Abubarkar Tafawa Balewa University.

He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Science degree in Management Economics. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

Obaleke started his banking career in 1991 when he joined NBM Bank Limited as Head, Corporate Finance Department. He left the services of the bank in 1998 as Senior Officer to join the services of Lead Merchant Bank in 1998 as Assistant Manager.

He rose to become Deputy Manager in year 2000 and Manager in 2001. In 2003, he was promoted to the position of Senior/Regional Manager in charge of upcountry branches and Regional Executive Business Development Manager before his elevation to the position of Principal Manager in 2004.

In 2005, he joined the services of Intercontinental Bank Plc as Group Executive, Commercial Banking, South-South before he joined ETB  same year in 2005 as Assistant General Manager and Regional Business Director, South-South. Mr. Obaleke was until his appointment a General Manager and Zonal Business Head, South-South covering Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers States.

Mr. Fakeye who until his appointment was a Deputy General Manager in charge of Business Development and Chief Compliance Officer is bringing his rich experience spanning over two decades into the board of the bank.

A product of Obafemi Awolowo and University of Lagos where he bagged a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Fakeye is a Fellow, Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), and  Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA).

His banking career started with Centre Point Merchant Bank Limited in 1990 from where he joined ETB in 1994 where he was in charge of the bank’s transactions from Uyo, Aba, Calabar and Port Harcourt.

Over the years, Fakeye has worked in various business units of the bank and has been instrumental in robust  management of some key clients and accounts that  the bank has nurtured.

Until his appointment, he was the  Zonal Business head of Victoria island Region and Chief Compliance Officer. He is coming into the board of the bank with rich experience in branch development, consumer banking , public sector accounts, and relationship management.

Mr. Tilewa Adebajo is an accomplished banker with rich experience in international banking and Finance with deep knowledge in credit administration. His outstanding board level experience has established himself as an accomplished corporate and investment banker and corporate finance expert who is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the bank.

After his successful career in international finance markets with JP Morgan Chase, the new ETB ED in the last 12 years had ventured into the African markets with deep involvement in corporate banking, academics, policy and financial advisory, project finance and consulting services.

A former finance faculty head and lecturer at the Lagos Business School, Adebajo is a product of University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA,  where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Economics and International Relations, American University, Washington DC, where he obtained a Masters in Development Banking (International Finance and Economics) and Lagos Business School where he did an Advanced Management Program.

His professional accomplishments have also taken him to J.P Morgan Chase, New York as Group Head and Team Leader, International Project Group  between 1986 and 1992, Hamilton Hammer, Lagos as Senior Associate, Investment Banking and GT Bank, Lagos as Head, Telecommunications Team between 2004 to 2006.

The confirmation of the appointment of the new Executive Directors bY the CBN will rev-up the activities in the bank and will facilitate the realization of the bank’s promise to its customers as the bank for the new Nigeria, partnering businesses for success.
