By Kingsley Omonobi
The Nigerian Army and its Naval counterpart, yesterday released the promotion of their senior officers with the Army Council approving the elevation of eight Major Generals and 49 Brigadier Generals and the Navy Council approving the elevation of 40 Commodores (one-star Generals), 85 Captains and 44 Commanders.

For the senior officers of the rank of Rear Admirals (2-star Generals) for the Navy, Vanguard gathered that about five senior officers are in running for elevation but that the need to ensure merit, position availability and national spread, was responsible for the delay in releasing their promotion.

O. Shoboiki, one time Guards Brigade Commander; Major General A. T. Umaru, Director of Military Intelligence; Major General C. O. Omoregie, Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade; Major General A. B.
