By Tordue Salem

ABUJA—A group comprising of members of Hausa and Yoruba communities in Anambra State are said to  have declared support for Peoples Progressive Alliance, PPA, governorship candidate, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife.

The communities said to be in their thousands had stormed Ekwunife’s  campaign office in Anambra to declare their support.

Speaking on the essence of the visit, the leader of the Hausa community in Awka, Alhaji Bello Maigari said their visit was purely to identify with the PPA. They hailed Mrs. Ekwunife’s “robust contribution to national issues as a member of the Federal House of Representatives.”

One of the leaders of the Hausa group, Sergent Musa described Ekwunife’s manifesto as “well articulated and capable of moving the state forward if  properly implemented.”

He commended her “for identifying with their cause for a permanent settlement for the Hausa community in the state,” as a member of the  Hausa Turaki in Awka regreted “the pains and sufferings  the community is facing in the state due to insensitivity of successive governments,”

Alhaji Babale who spoke on behalf of the members of the Hausa community that dumped the PDP for the PPA, promised to “ensure the victory of Mrs Ekwunife in the Governorship election.”

The spokesman of the Yoruba community in Awka, Mr Awale Mohammad said “due to her philantropic gestures, the people have decided to throw their weight behind her candidature.”
