Apart from graduands of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos who will be conferred with certificates for having successfully completed their studies both retirees who meritoriously served the first higher institution in Nigeria as well as stakeholders during the forthcoming 26th convocation ceremonies.
The stakeholders to be conferred with fellowship awards are Governor Babatunde Raji Fashsola (SAN) of Lagos State; Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State; Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State; Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Executive Secretary of Education Trust Fund; Chief Emma Unachukwu, National President of Yabatechâ€™s Alumni Association and Senator Olu Alabi, the Pro-chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University.
These disclosures came from the Chairman of Ceremony Committee of the College, Mrs. Ify Marimze who spoke on behalf of the College Rector, Mr. Olubunmi Owoso.
Marimze explained that while gala nite for the institutionâ€™s retirees and meritorious award for outstanding staff will hold on December 1, the graduation ceremony and the conferment of fellowship awards will take place on December 4, adding that the convocation ceremony will be for graduands from 2006/2007 to 2008/2009 academic sessions.
Other highlights of the event, according to Marimze, is the reception to be organised for former council members of the college slated for December 3 and the convocation lecture titled: â€œSynergy for Science and Technology Institutions Towards an Innovative National Developmentâ€ to be delivered by Prof. Oye Ibidapo-Obe, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos on December 2, this year.
