Last Sunday, two Ghanaians, Hayford Nuako and Ocloo Raphael were evicted from the MTN Nigeria/Ghana Soccer Academy. This is coming a week after a Ghanaian, Adu Poku, was sent home from the competition.

The Ghanaian soccer talents were evicted following the result of votes from viewers of the show across Nigeria and Ghana, as announced by the panel of judges of the show which comprised of Miss Awo Baah Abankwa, Coach Dan Owusu and Mr Ibrahim Sunday.

To the crowd that turned up to grace the eviction event, it was a big shock to see two of the favorite teammates evicted from the Academy.

Speaking during the eviction show, Owusu encouraged all the team mates by saying they were all winners who should always aspire to greater height in their soccer career.

“No matter what happened, I want all the team mates to know that you are already soccer stars by every right and you should begin to act upon that fact. Whoever gets evicted today, I urge you to believe in yourself, believe in God and the talent He has given to you and then focus on your career as a soccer star.”

With the competition gradually getting to its climax, the house is now left with eight teammates, with Nigerians having five.

The  Teammates in the house and their unique numbers are; Teammate 2 , Hillary Okonkwo (Nigeria); Teammate 3 , Arago Jamal (Ghana); Teammate 6, Pope Ineh (Nigeria); Teammate 7, Daniel Opare (Ghana); Teammate 10, Anderson Obadan (Nigeria); Teammate 11, Raphael Okoroafor (Nigeria); Teammate 12, Celestine Ehiram (Nigeria); and Teammate 14, Frank Antwi (Ghana).

The new captain of the Academy is Celestine Ehiram, who took over from his Ghanaian counterpart, Daniel Opare.

Meanwhile, Nigerian viewers have the opportunity of following daily activities in the Academy on AIT, Silverbird, Galaxy and DBN Television. They can equally participate by voting for their favourite teammate through the designated short code: 33118.

The best weekly voter stands the chance of winning an all-expenses paid trip to Ghana to visit the Academy, while the highest voter throughout the competition wins an all- expenses paid trip to Europe.

The overall winner in the Academy will get a grand prize of Hyundai Tucson 4-wheel drive car as well as a year football contract with a local club in Ghana or Nigeria. This is in addition to a 14-day trial with an international club and a five-star round trip to the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa, sponsored by MTN.
