CHAIRMAN of the Police Service Commission, Mr. Parry Osayande said that the Commission is impressed   with the achievements of Governor Obi in various sectors, especially security.

He said this yesterday when he led other members of the commission to pay a courtesy call to the governor in Government House Awka.

The  chairman said that the  commission was happy and grateful to the Governor for his tremendous support to the Police in the area of logistics such as donation of vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) and communications gadgets and other morale-boosting measures.

He also said that the police  council was richer because of the membership of people like Obi who made quality contributions on issues. In his words, “With people like Obi, the efforts to revamp the police, which is one of the cardinal objectives of the  commission, will be achieved.”

For a successful revamping, he said that the four tiers of  government should contribute 420 billion naira annually to the police in the next five years.

To encourage effective policing, he also revealed that the revised Police Code has specified that every command should work under the  chief  executives of the states, which are the governors.
