JTF warns against violence in N/Delta

By Jimitota Onoyume

PORT HARCOURT — The Joint Task Force (JTF) has warned that it would not tolerate any attempt to threaten the peace in any community  in the Niger Delta.

Spokesman of the security body, Col  Timothy Atinga, who spoke against the backdrop of alleged shooting in Kula community, Rivers State, assured those in the area to go about their normal business as the situation had been brought under control.

He said his men responded to shooting in the area, adding that at the end, no arrest was made.

Col Atinga said at press time, the JTF had withdrawn from the community

Meanwhile, Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta in its online statement yesterday accused the security body of invading the community in search of arms allegedly in the custody of one of its ex-  commanders, Mr Christian Don Pedro.

The statement signed by Jomo Gbomo, said the militant body would not take lightly such action from the security body in the future, just as it called on the federal government to call the security body to order.
