Abeokuta- SPEAKER  of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, has commended Chief HID Awolowo, the wife of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, for her untiring efforts in bringing about unity among Yoruba even in her old age.

Speaking during a visit on the occasion of the 94th birthday of the wife of the late sage, Bankole said he was inspired to work harder for the unity of the Yoruba race in a Nigeria federation, adding that her efforts at an all inclusive Yoruba platform was commendable in the best interest of Yoruba and Nigeria.

The speaker, who was full of praises for her strong character and work in bringing both young and elderly Yoruba people together in the interest of the race, urged all Yoruba sons and daughters to cooperate with her.

In her response, Chief Awolowo said she was proud of the role the speaker was playing at the national scene stressing that when she mentioned the visit of the speaker’s visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, the prominent monarch informed her that Bankole has been doing the Yoruba race proud in the leadership of the House of Representatives.

She noted that, by nature Yoruba people are difficult to bring together under a single platform.
