FG asked to make education priority

LAGOS — The Federal Government has been advised to give education a priority because of its importance to the attainment of Vision 20:2020 as well as its capacity to solve national problems.

Professor Abdul-Ganiy Oladosun, Director of Academic Planning, University of Ilorin said this at the 40th anniversary celebration of Daru-Daw’ah Wal-lrshad Islamic College while speaking on the importance of Arabic and Western Education in nation building in Lagos, yesterday.

According to him, “the importance of education in the life of individuals and society cannot be over-emphasized. In Islam, beneficial education was the lost treasure of all Muslims which must be grabbed anywhere it was found.”

He, therefore, urged the government at all levels, parents, and the society at large to contribute immensely to creating an enabling environment that would facilitate survival of education for the sake of growth, progress and all round development of the country.
